Michael Buchinger (born October 21, 1992 in Vienna ) is an Austrian YouTuber , columnist , author and cabaret artist .

Career

Buchinger grew up in Müllendorf in Burgenland as the son of the entrepreneur Günter Johann Buchinger. After graduating from high school in the Eisenstadt Wolfgarten diocese with the Matura , he moved to Vienna, where he studied English and American Studies. In the meantime he lived in a shared flat in Berlin with other YouTubers . He completed his studies at the University of Vienna with a Bachelor in English and American Studies . Buchinger is in a committed relationship and is homosexual .

The main reason for Buchinger's fame is his YouTube channel Michael Buchinger , on which he has been posting videos since 2009. He had his breakthrough in 2010 with the video What if Facebook were real life , which has had over 1.2 million views to date. The channel is now one of the most successful in Austria, with over 155,000 subscribers (as of December 2018) and over 40 million views. Thematically, the channel is assigned to comedy . Recurring formats are the monthly hate lists with the extension extra hate , Buchinger's back videos, his advice format Dear Michael and his craft format That doesn't interest me . Socio-critical videos such as If gays would say what straight people say were recorded by Stern magazine and the daily Bild . Buchinger's channel was part of the ProSiebenSat1 group's Studio 71 network .

Michael Buchinger is now also active in the field of writing. Film, television & other media

Buchinger can be seen regularly on television . He is one of the celebrities who regularly have their say in the Sixx show "Frauendingsbums - Attractive Halbwissen". He has also appeared several times as a reporter on the Austrian breakfast television " Café Puls " on the Puls 4 television channel . Buchinger is also active in the film sector as the voice actor for toilet paper in the animated film " Sausage Party - It's about the sausage ". In addition, in November 2016 Buchinger was seen as the face for an advertising campaign in numerous disguises (e.g. as Falco ) on several advertising screens at particularly busy points in Vienna ( Mariahilfer Strasse , Karlsplatz , Praterstern , Schwedenplatz and Volkstheater ).

Wine

Since November 2016 Buchinger has been selling a limited edition of its own wine , the Michael Buchinger Rivaner , a dry white wine that was created in collaboration with the Alfred Deim winery in Schönberg am Kamp . Each bottle is personally signed by Buchinger. In 2017 he advertised a frizzante with his name that he sold on his website.

Books

Buchinger published his first book “The Last One Closes His Mouth” in 2017 at Ullstein, which entered the SPIEGEL bestseller list at number 11. His second book "Long Legs, Short Lies" was published in November 2018.

cabaret

Buchinger has also been a cabaret artist since spring 2018; his first stage program is called "Long Legs, Short Lies" and is dedicated to the topics of relationships, family, lies and hate.

Podcast

Since September 2018, Buchinger has been publishing a new episode of his podcast every week called "Buchinger's Diary". In this "he chats from the sewing box and, according to his own statements, reveals his most intimate thoughts and secrets".
