The small pleasure (also: Shop of Little Pleasures ) is an Austrian fictional film by Julia Frick from 2017 with Petra Kleinert in the leading role. The comedy film won an award for best foreign film at the LA Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2017, and Waltraut Haas received an award for best supporting female role at the 2017 Sydney Indie Film Festival . In Austria, the film was shown in March 2018 at the FrauenFilmTage Vienna film festival. The cinema release took place in Austria on October 12, 2018.

Emma is a married woman and the mother of Lukas and Mirella. She has a house with a garden and has both feet on the ground. Everything seems fine until she cheats on her husband. The threat of divorce, which also endangers Emma's economic existence. She goes on a job hunt and meets Charlie, the operator of a sex shop, who is urgently looking for a manager. The product range that Emma finds there, however, does not meet her expectations, she cannot do much with the products and therefore begins to transform the shop into an erotic boutique for women and everyone who loves women.

Through her commitment, she soon wins new customers and acquaintances, and she also gains new insights into her ideas about sexuality. She concludes that traditional notions are out of date and begins to explore her own needs. Emma's conservative mother does not like this walk, she is also viewed critically by children. Emma can no longer be dictated to. She receives support from her new acquaintances in her business activities. And her ex is starting to be interested in her again.

One of the locations: the Eisenstadt town hall

The shooting took place in summer 2016 in Eisenstadt , Leopoldsdorf and Vienna . Among other things, the location was the Eisenstadt town hall . The film was produced by Viennatainment - VEG Julia Frick OG . Roland Winkler was responsible for the sound, Veronika Susanna Harb for the costume design, Fritz Müller for the production design and Uschi Braun for the makeup.

Barbara Petsch described Das kleine Freude in the daily newspaper Die Presse as a charming, sensitive and funny film about the most important thing in the world, although the basic idea was not entirely new and would be reminiscent of Die Herbstzeitlosen (2006). The film is "despite its sensitive topic, the huge sales that sex toys find, tastefully designed and great cast".
