Barbara Karlich (born January 7, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian television presenter , journalist and publicist .

Life

Barbara Karlich is the daughter of the entrepreneur Kommerzialrat Viktor Karlich and the librarian Katharina Karlich. She grew up in Trausdorf in Burgenland and belongs to the Burgenland-Croat minority. She graduated from the Eisenstadt high school in 1987 and moved to Vienna. There she completed her studies of journalism, psychology and theater studies at the University of Vienna in 1994 as well as the university course for public relations.

After a traineeship at the ORF regional studio Burgenland, where she gained her first journalistic experience, she worked in various advertising agencies, as a journalist in the business sector. Her radio career began in 1996, most recently she moderated the daily morning show Barbarella and the morning crew on the former private broadcaster 92.9 RTL (Austria) .

In 1999 Karlich was brought to ORF television by the director Kathrin Zechner , where she has been hosting her weekdays show since October 27, 1999. The Barbara Karlich Show on ORF2 is the only remaining talk show on German-speaking television and thus holds the record of the longest-broadcast talk shows (since October 1999) in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In the summer of 2001 she led through the reality documentary How life so plays , which showed people in special and moving moments in their lives. In 2000, 2001 and 2002 she moderated the annual children's gala for light in the dark , from late 2003 to early 2005 she visited former guests of her daily talk show for the spin-off Karlich afterwards . Since 2015 she has hosted the federal state main evening show 9 seats - 9 treasures with Armin Assinger .

From March 10, 2006 she took part in the second season of the ORF show Dancing Stars . With her dance partner Alexander Zaglmeier she reached the 7th place and had to leave the show on March 31, 2006 after the 4th round.

In 2009 she worked (according to her own statements) at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Vienna on a dissertation on the subject of the talk show stage - everyday life and world of talk guests .

Barbara Karlich lives with her daughter in Burgenland.

Acting career

Karlich has shown acting ambitions for many years. In 2015 she was in the series Vorstadtweiber and she shot for the Tatort episode Greed , which was broadcast in 2015 and in which she embodied a doctor. Karlich had previously made guest appearances in Try it out with a youngster and Schlosshotel Orth . She has appeared repeatedly at summer theater events, including in Berndorf , Bromberg and Pitten , where she took over as artistic director in 2010. In 2016 she gave the indulgence in Jedermann at the Parndorf summer theater .

Karlich is the leader of a Croatian amateur theater group in Burgenland.
