The Decoration of Honor of the Province of Burgenland is the most significant honor currently awarded by the Province of Burgenland . The various levels are awarded by the Burgenland state government .

Legal basis and rental practice

The legal basis for the Decoration of Honor of the Province of Burgenland was created with the "Law of May 30, 1961 on the Decoration of Honor of the Province of Burgenland" (LGBl. No. 19/1961), whereby the State Law only provided a rough framework. The majority of the necessary regulations such as the form of the honorary badge, its levels and the basis for the award should rather be regulated in a statute by the state government. The provincial government first published such a statute on October 6, 1961, which was finally replaced in 1967 by the "Ordinance of the Burgenland Provincial Government of July 19, 1969, with which the statute for the medal of honor of the Land of Burgenland is newly established" (LGBl. No. . 20/1967) was replaced. The statute stipulates that the Medal of Honor of the Province of Burgenland is awarded to people who have performed special services for the general good through public or private work or who have otherwise promoted the reputation and development of the Province of Burgenland, as well as to persons who have made merit Have acquired subject areas that are a matter of the state in the execution. Order levels

The Medal of Honor of the Province of Burgenland currently comprises seven levels. The commander's cross with the star is worn as a decoration on the ribbon around the neck, while the star is placed on the left side of the chest. The holder of the Commander's Cross wears the decoration on the ribbon around his neck, the holder of the Great Decoration of Honor wears the decoration on the left side of the chest. The badge of honor, the Cross of Merit and the gold and silver medals are worn on the ribbon on the left side of the chest.

  • Neck decoration: (gem): height 64 mm, width 64 mm. Four-part cross with eight points, bordered in gold, fields enamelled in red transparent, rising laurel between the cross parts, exaggerated by the Burgenland coat of arms, painted on enamel and gilded. The connection of this cross with the ribbon is made by a 22 mm long and 4 mm wide gold-plated profiled oval ring and a gold-plated eyelet attached to the gem.
  • Ribbon: A 50 cm long and 45 mm wide moiré ribbon drawn through the ring in the two-fold national colors red-gold (yellow).
  • Breast star: eight-pointed gold-plated star with brooching 88 mm high and wide, raised by the eight-pointed red and gold enameled cross on which the enamelled state coat of arms rests again.

Commander's Cross of the Province of Burgenland

  • Neck decoration (gem): height 64 mm, width 64 mm. Four-part cross with eight points, bordered in gold, fields enamelled in red transparent, rising laurel between the cross parts, exaggerated by the Burgenland coat of arms, painted on enamel and gilded.   • Gem: height 52 mm, width 52 mm. Four-part cross with eight points, bordered in gold, fields enamelled in transparent red, raised by the Burgenland coat of arms, painted on enamel and gilded.
  • Ribbon: Triangular folded 45 mm wide moiré ribbon in the two-fold national colors red-gold (yellow).

Gold medal of the Province of Burgenland

  • Medal: circular, diameter 40 mm, gold-plated, with eyelet and ring for the ribbon. The medal shows the Burgenland coat of arms in relief on the obverse and a stylized laurel branch on each side, and the inscription "For Merit" on the reverse.
  • Ribbon: Triangular folded 45 mm wide moiré ribbon in the two-fold national colors red-gold (yellow).

Silver medal of the Province of Burgenland

  • Medal: circular, diameter 40 mm, silver-plated, with eyelet and ring for the ribbon. The medal shows the Burgenland coat of arms in relief on the obverse and a stylized laurel branch on each side, and the inscription "For Merit" on the reverse.
  • Ribbon: Triangular folded 45 mm wide moiré ribbon in the two-fold national colors red-gold (yellow).
