Paluten (real name Patrick Mayer ; born January 5, 1988 in Hamburg ) is a German web video producer and author of young adult novels ; he became famous for posting Let's Plays and Vlogs on his YouTube channel .

Paluten created the channel of the same name on October 17, 2012. On October 30, he then uploaded the first video, a Let's Play of the game Need for Speed: Most Wanted . Now, however, his focus is on Let's Plays of games Minecraft and GTA V . Let's Plays of games from a wide variety of genres, such as different simulators, as well as irregular vlogs also appear . His video series Minecraft Freedom , which tells a fictional story about Paluten and his mascot, the pig Edgar, in 380 episodes received special attention . Numerous well-known YouTubers worked there, including GermanLetsPlay , Zombey , Maudado, Herr Bergmann , Rewinside and numerous others.

From October 2016, he and the Let's Players Rewinside, Sturmwaffel , Izzi and Dner maintained an office called UFO (“Ultra / Our fat office”). In March 2018, Dner announced his excerpt from the UFO, followed in June 2018 by Rewinside and Sturmwaffel. The office was subsequently closed. Paluten has lived in Munich since the end of June 2018 .

Books

His book Freedom was published on March 29, 2018 . The Schmahamas Conspiracy . Paluten published it in the publisher Community Editions, which specializes in web video producers . Within a very short time it reached first place on the fiction bestseller list for hardcover editions. In August 2018, it was still a bestseller at number 11. Paluten provided the ideas for the book, but it was formulated by the co-author who wrote under the pseudonym Klaas Kern . The illustrations are by Irina Zinner. The action of the novel takes place in the world of Paluten's successful video series Minecraft Freedom .

Paluten published the comic The Golem King on June 28, 2019 , also published by Community Editions. Haiko Hörnig wrote the plot based on his ideas , which was then illustrated again by Irina Zinner. The story revolves around a golem named Iggi who goes on adventures in the world of Minecraft Freedom .

The sequel Freedom was released on March 23, 2020 . Mess in space ; the initial print run was 80,000 copies. In March 2020, the book reached number 1 on the Spiegel bestseller list in the youth novel category.

On March 25, 2020, the first episode of the podcast Suddenly Pregnant was published, which Paluten recorded together with YouTuber Mr. Bergmann .

Awards

In 2017 Paluten was nominated for the Germany Web Video Prize in the gaming category. The reason was that he belongs to the spearhead of the German gaming scene and that he is one of the web video makers with the greatest reach.
