Kasabian is a British rock band from Leicester , consisting of Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews.
history
The band members come from the Leicester area and met at the schools there. 1997 Tom Meighan founded the band Saracuse together with Sergio Pizzorno and Chris Edwards. Later guitarist Christopher Karloff joined the band after a pub visit.
After the band's first appearances and popularity, they change their name to Kasabian after guitarist Karloff read a book about the mass murderer Charles Manson . It is the last name of the woman who drove the getaway car in the Tate murders : Linda Kasabian .
Kasabian held their first demo tape, which they had produced with Scott Gilbert, on December 24, 1999.
In 2004 she released her self-titled debut, which was positively received by critics. In order not to be disturbed, the band lived in a remote farm house during the recording. The first two singles were Processed Beats and Reason Is Treason , but it was only with their third single Club Foot that Kasabian made her breakthrough in the singles charts. Club Foot met both music critical and commercial needs and found a regular spot on the band's live setlist.
In the summer of 2005 the live album Live from Brixton was released , which the band sold exclusively through download shops. In early 2006, Chris Karloff left the band due to musical differences and was replaced by live guitarist Jay Mehler. He was no longer involved in the creation of the second album Empire , which was released in September 2006. The harbinger of this was the single of the same name.
As opening act for the Rolling Stones Kasabian appeared in August 2006 in Zurich and Nice. On August 13, 2008 Kasabian played in the opening act of the Muse concert in Dublin. On August 29th, 2009 they played live at Rock am See and presented their third album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum . In August 2010 they appeared as the opening act for three U2 concerts as part of the 360 ° tour: In Turin on August 6, 2010, in Frankfurt / Main on August 10, 2010 and in Hanover on August 12, 2010.
In early 2013 Jay Mehler left the band to join Beady Eye . He was replaced by Tim Carter.
Music genre
Their influences are very far-reaching, from the Rolling Stones to the Doors and Beatles to Motown , Hip-Hop , Krautrock , the rave sound of the late 1980s and early 1990s and Britpop .
Soundtrack
At the end of 2005, Kasabian provided with their single Club Foot a title of the soundtrack to the movie Goal - Lebe Ihr Traum , to the movie Doomsday - Tag der Rache (2008, with Rhona Mitra , Bob Hoskins ), to the movie The Guardian (2006, with Kevin Costner , Ashton Kutcher ), and to the movie ACAB - All Cops Are Bastards (2012, by Stefano Sollima), the title music for MTV telecast MTV Goal! as well as for the soccer games Pro Evolution Soccer 5 from Konami and FIFA 13 from EA Sports . The song was also featured in the three racing games WRC Rally Evolved , Midnight Club 3 and Juiced, and in the sprayer game Marc Eckō's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure . Club Foot can also be found in Tony Hawk's Project 8 game and Alan Wake's American Nightmare .
Its title Reason Is Treason , in a remix version, represents the intro music of the game Gran Turismo 4 , while the original version of the song in the film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life in one of the first scenes by the DJ one Wedding party is recorded.
The song LSF is part of the soundtrack of the computer game FIFA 2004 . Fast Fuse is featured in the FIFA 09 soundtrack . Fire is inserted as background music in the Formula 1 racing game F1 2010 .
