Beady Eye was a British rock band formed in May 2010 by four of the last five members of the rock band Oasis . On October 25, 2014, Liam Gallagher announced their breakup on Twitter .

history

The two brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have been known as arguers since Oasis was founded in 1991. In August 2009 it came to a final break when a dispute escalated at the Rock en Seine Festival in France and Noel left the band. Liam then dissolved Oasis, but also announced that the remaining members would continue under a different name. In May 2010, Liam announced that the band was called Beady Eye and was in the studio with producer Steve Lillywhite . Andy Bell , who previously played bass at Oasis, was now guitarist for the band along with Gem Archer . The bassist was Jeff Wootton , who is already working for Damon Albarn with the Gorillaz as a live bassist.

The first single, Bring the Light , was released in November 2010 and reached number 61 in the UK charts. The first concerts in Germany took place in March 2011 in Cologne and in May in Hamburg. In Austria they played on August 18, 2011 at the FM4 Frequency Festival , which was attended by around 40,000 people. In 2011, Beady Eye was nominated for an NME Award in the “Best New Band” category. The band's first album is called Different Gear, Still Speeding and was released in Europe on February 25, 2011. On August 12, 2012, they performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The second album BE was released on June 10, 2013 .

In 2013 Jeff Wootton left the band and was replaced by former Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler.

On October 25, 2014, Liam Gallagher announced that Beady Eye had disbanded.
