Yu Yaodong
Yu Yaodong ( Chinese 庾 耀东 , Pinyin Yǔ Yàodōng , * 1951 in Dongguan , † November 24, 2012 ) was a Chinese badminton player .
Career
Yu Yaodong was one of the most important Chinese badminton players of the 1970s. During this time there was still a strict separation between the China-related world association WBF and the much larger association IBF, so that Yaodong was almost never able to compete with the sizes of the other association. In 1961 he started playing badminton at the Amateur Sports School in Guangzhou , and in 1965 he joined the Guangdong team . In 1972, the Dongguan native Yaodong became the Chinese national team. At the WBF World Championships in 1978 he was first in men's doubles with Hou Jiachang and also first in men's singles.
