Herbert Feuerstein (born June 15, 1937 in Zell am See , Austria ) is a German journalist , cabaret artist and entertainer of Austrian origin.

Feuerstein became known to a wide audience in German-speaking countries primarily through his collaboration with Harald Schmidt in the television programs Pssst ... and Schmidtanders .

Life

Feuerstein studied from 1956 to 1958 at the Salzburg Mozarteum music in the subjects piano , harpsichord and composition . After he had panned a composition by Bernhard Paumgartner , the President of the Salzburg Festival, as a critic and provoked some fellow students, he was advised to leave the university. In 1960 he followed his first wife, the Hawaiian guest student Pearl Higa, to New York , where they married on November 20, 1960. There he worked as an editor and from 1968 as editor-in-chief of the German-language New Yorker Staats-Zeitung . He also worked for radio and as the USA correspondent for the German satirical magazine Pardon . After the failure of his first marriage, Feuerstein returned to Europe in 1969. He became publishing director at Bärmeier & Nikel publishing house , which among other things published the satirical magazine Pardon . Then he was editor-in-chief of the German MAD magazine until 1991 .

In 1984 he initially worked for television as the author of the Michael Braun talk show on WDR , followed by Wild am Sonntag two years later . At the side of Harald Schmidt , he became known to a wide audience - as a member of the advice team of the game show Pssst ... and as co-moderator and chief author of Schmidt One another . After the end of these two formats, he appeared in 1995 as Detlef Hase in the film Entführung aus der Lindenstrasse . Two years later he wrote television history when he hosted the live broadcast Feuersteins Nacht for twelve hours at a time . In 1998 another twelve-hour Feuersteins Night followed .

After several guest appearances as stuntman Spartakus in the weekly show , he made his debut as a theater actor in Berlin in 1998 . He was also a member of the What Am I? on kabel eins , he also lends his voice to Professor Brabbelback in the show with the mouse .

Between 2003 and 2008, Feuerstein played the official frog in 75 performances of the operetta Die Fledermaus at the Cologne Opera. He was also seen on NBC Giga in 2004. In addition, from 2003 to 2011 he was often part of the advice team for the Sat.1 series Genial Daneben . In 2004 he spoke the voice of Gilbert Huph in the animated film The Incredibles . In 2007 he celebrated his comeback with Harald Schmidt in the ARD's early evening program in the new edition of Pssst ... , which was discontinued after twelve episodes. In 2007 he played God in the opera Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny and also in the film Vollidiot based on the novel by Tommy Jaud . In 2008, he worked as a narrator in the fairy tale adaptation of Frau Holle . He made a guest appearance the following year in Wickie and the Strong Men .

In 2009 and 2010, Feuerstein played the devil in the Berlin Cathedral at the Berliner Jedermann Festival .

Herbert Feuerstein lives in Erftstadt and is third married to the editor Grit Bergmann. He has been a German citizen since 1990.
