Get Well Soon is a music project by the German singer , songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Konstantin Gropper (born September 28, 1982 in Biberach an der Riss ).

Life

Gropper grew up in the Illertal community of Erolzheim . The son of a music teacher began playing the cello at the age of six and is a classically trained instrumentalist ( piano , cello , drums and guitar ). As a teenager he played in a punk and grunge band called Your Garden . He graduated from high school in Ochsenhausen . He then studied at the Mannheim Pop Academy , from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts , and philosophy in Heidelberg. He moved to Berlin; today he lives and works in Mannheim again .

Get Well Soon

Konstantin Gropper began writing and recording music under the stage name Get Well Soon in 2003 while studying . First he produced a few EPs , which he sold in his own distribution during his performances.

On his debut album Rest Now, Weary Head! You Will Get Well Soon Gropper worked alone for three years. Since he could not finance studio recordings, he produced all the tracks at home in his bedroom. The album was released in February 2008 and received positive international reviews. It reached number 28 in Germany and in September 2008 also number 92 on the French album charts.

In the studio Gropper recorded most of the instruments himself, while performing live he is played by Maximilian Schenkel (guitar, trumpet, vibraphone), Timo Kumpf (bass), his sister Verena Gropper (violin, vocals), Marcus Wuest / Daniel Roos (accordion, piano , Vocals, vibraphone, glockenspiel) and Paul Kenny (drums).

In 2008 Gropper was featured on the soundtrack for the Wim Wenders film Palermo Shooting with the titles Busy Hope and Good Friday .

Gropper recorded the second album Vexations (German: annoyances ) for the first time in a recording studio together with other musicians. The live recorded album, which, according to Gropper, is a “concept album about stoicism ”, was released in January 2010 and entered the German album charts at number 11 . At the same time an extensive tour began, which took the band through neighboring European countries, Great Britain, Scandinavia and Italy until May 2010.

In 2011 Gropper wrote the soundtrack for the French television series Xanadu , which was shown on Arte in France and Germany .

The third album The Scarlet Beast o 'Seven Heads was released on August 24, 2012. Shortly before that, the video for the track Roland, I Feel You , which is dedicated to the director Roland Emmerich , was released.

In 2013 Gropper produced the successful album Hinterland by Casper .

In September 2014 Konstantin Gropper announced new music in the form of three EPs. These are titled The Lufthansa Heist , Henry - The Infinite Desire of Heinrich Zeppelin Alfred von Nullmeyer and Greatest Hits and were released on November 7, 14 and 21, 2014. Gropper sees the first EP as an homage to the music of the late 1980s and early 1990s that got him into music making. He dedicates the second EP to the author Arnold Stadler , whose book Der Tod und ich, the two of us, influenced him and the guitarless songs. The third EP contains a number of cover songs by George Michael ( Careless Whisper ), Elton John ( Rocket Man ), Riz Ortolani (Oh My Love) and The Beach Boys ('Til I Die), among others .

The fourth album Love was released on January 29, 2016.

The fifth album The Horror was released on June 8th, 2018. Before that, the single Martyrs was released. In addition to the album, a web series was produced and made available for free. The series was produced by the Bildundtonfabrik and consists of three episodes, each with the music from the album. The album was received very positively in the German-language feature pages. Spiegel Online wrote, for example , that it was “an ambitious work that is unparalleled in recent German music”.
