Slut (Swedish for "closed", English for " slut ") is a German music group from Ingolstadt .

history

The band was founded in 1994 by Christian Neuburger, Matthias Neuburger, Rainer Schaller and Gerd Rosenacker. After the first album, René Arbeithuber joined them. They lived for some time with their friends, the band Pelzig - René Arbeithuber and Rainer Schaller also play there - at a castle in Westerhofen , where they had their rehearsal room and their live mixer Holger Krzywon had his studio until mid-2005.

In 2004 Slut received the Ingolstadt Art Prize for their musical activities .

At the beginning of 2005 they also represented the state of Bavaria at the Bundesvision Song Contest with a partly German version of Why Pourquoi .

In 2006 Slut accompanied Brecht's Threepenny Opera with musical compositions by Kurt Weill at the Ingolstadt Theater . The interpretations of thirteen songs were later recorded by Tobias Levin in the Electric Avenue Studios in Hamburg and were to be released as an album in June 2006. However, this failed shortly before because of the intervention by the estate administrator Kurt Weills. Only five of the songs were ultimately released for publication.

On January 25, 2008, the band released a new album called StillNo1 . The CD was produced by Oliver Zülch ( Die Ärzte , The Notwist , Ich + Ich , Juli et al.). The CD was recorded in Berlin .

In autumn 2009, the band went on tour with the author Juli Zeh and the joint project Corpus Delicti - a sonic novella . The sound novella was also released on CD on September 18, 2009, on which seven new songs by the band are included.

In August 2013, the album Alienation came out.

style

The band's songs can be described as catchy rock music with a special focus on the mostly melancholy vocals and high-energy guitar riffs . The song structures mostly follow the classic scheme ( verse / refrain ). Other structures were tried on the album Lookbook , which makes more use of electronic effects and long intros .

Working on songs from The Threepenny Opera changed the band's music forever. Their sixth studio album StillNo1 sounds more pathetic and makes more use of different instruments than was the case on All We Need Is Silence .
