Sydney Youngblood
Sydney Youngblood (* 2. December 1960 in San Antonio , Texas , as a Sydney Ford ) is one in Germany living American Soul singer, the late 1980s and early 1990s successes in the international hit parade celebrated. His Indian grandmother gave him the name "Youngblood" as a toddler, which he has been using as a pseudonym ever since .
life and career
At the age of six, Sydney Ford won a talent competition in San Antonio and became enthusiastic about music from an early age. At the age of 20 the artist came to Mannheim in Germany, where he did his military service in the US Army and later stayed there. Here, together with other musicians, he founded an R&B band that gained fame in the Rhine-Neckar area , so that at the end of the 1980s he was offered a recording contract as a solo artist.
His debut album Feeling Free , released in autumn 1989, gave him the international breakthrough and the reputation that goes with it . Youngblood was able to celebrate worldwide chart successes in 1989 with the singles if Only I Could and Sit and Wait and won several gold records , but in the following years did not come close to the fame of bygone times, although his subsequent singles were able to place in the charts.
After selling over five million records, Youngblood returned to the United States in 1997 when his brother died there.
In January 2018, Youngblood was a participant in the 12th season of the reality show I'm a Star - Get Me Out of Here! .
In autumn 2019 he could be seen on Das Supertalent .
