The twelfth season of the German reality show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! began on January 19, 2018 and was broadcast on the private broadcaster RTL until February 3, 2018 .

As in the years 2013 to 2017, the moderators were Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich . The paramedic Bob McCarron alias “Dr. Bob “was there again.

The current events in the camp were then analyzed and discussed for the first time in the new talk show I am a star - The hour after .

On February 18, 2018, an additional program with the title “I'm a Star - Get Me Out of Here! The aftermath ” broadcast.

Jenny Frankhauser became the jungle queen.

Treasure hunt

The candidates go on a treasure hunt in pairs and solve a task. If successful, they usually bring a treasure chest to the camp. There the chest is opened, in which there is a quiz question with two possible answers. If the candidates answer the task correctly, there is a prize such as sweets or spices; if they answer incorrectly, there is a useless consolation prize such as a garden gnome. More rarely, there is an immediate win after solving the task.

Trivia

• On the day of Ansgar Brinkmann's voluntary departure, the jungle exam was titled “If I were you, I would rather be me”.
• Already in previous seasons Sonja Zietlow mentioned that the stars could not really choose the jungle tests in the finals, but that the meaningless names were assigned to a test by the broadcaster. To emphasize this, this time the names of the final tests were given to the stars only with the letters R, T and L to choose from. When Daniele Negroni took his exam, the moderators told him that one did not know what L should stand for, but would accept his suggestion (“favorite dish”). Tina York was allowed to choose between her proposal ("Tina") and that of the moderators ("Tierkammer").
