Costa Cordalis (born May 1, 1944 as Konstantinos Kordalis in Elatia , Greece ; † July 2, 2019 in Santa Ponça in Mallorca , Spain ) was a Greek - German pop singer .

Life

Cordalis started playing the guitar at the age of seven. At the age of 16 he settled in Frankfurt am Main and learned the German language at the Goethe Institute . After high school , he began studying the philosophy and German studies , which he did not graduate.

In 1965, Du have yes tears in your eyes , a German version of the Elvis title Crying in the Chapel , was his first record . But he only had noteworthy success from 1971 with the self-composed and produced titles And the Sun is Hot - with which he appeared three times on the ZDF hit parade -, Carolina, come and get in the boat tonight, Anna Lena . He had his greatest success from 1976 to 1977 with the title Anita , which stayed in the German top 10 for three months and made it to 3rd place there.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld in Tyrol , Cordalis started cross-country skiing for his home country Greece. In this discipline he was twice the Greek national champion. He also wanted to take part in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , but was not nominated by the Greek NOK . He had taught himself to ski in the Black Forest when he was preparing for the role of ski instructor in the ZDF series Engadiner Bilderbogen .

In spring 2004 he appeared in the RTL show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! with and became "Jungle King". He donated the prize of 28,000 euros to the Children's Cancer Aid . Based on the show, he released the song Jungle Beat . Several times he took part in the Tour of Hope . There he cycled many kilometers and collected money for children with cancer with his song Das Feuer .

Cordalis was married and has three children with his wife Ingrid; his son Lucas Cordalis and his daughter Angeliki Cordalis are also active in show business. From the mid-1980s to 2016, Costa Cordalis lived in the Black Forest in the Freudenstadt - Kniebis winter sports resort . Most recently he lived on Mallorca in the coastal town of Santa Ponça . In March 2019, he became faint and had to be treated in a hospital. He died of organ failure on July 2, 2019 at the age of 75 with his family at home in Santa Ponça.
