US5 [ ʌsˈfaɪv ] was one of the most successful international boy groups between 2005 and 2009. US5 sold more than 12 million records (singles, albums, DVDs and compilations) worldwide in their career.

Band history

2005: Foundation and debut album

The five male band members were put together by the American boy group maker Lou Pearlman and marketed internationally in the seven-part RTL II television series Big in America . The composition - two Americans, two Germans and one Englishman - is aimed directly at the largest music markets. After Big in America was broadcast in May and June 2005, the single Maria was released in early July , which entered the German single charts at number two and stayed at number one for four weeks. The other singles Just Because of You , Come Back to Me Baby and Mama also made it into the top five of the charts, as did the first album Here We Go , which went gold and platinum.

2006: In Control

After the Here We Go - Part 2 tour in May 2006, US5 were increasingly traveling abroad to establish themselves as an international band. They were accompanied by a camera team who accompanied the group in order to show their career in Big in America and thus also provide further advertising. The show was broadcast in the summer of 2006. In September 2006, the first single Maria was released in England and made it into the top 40 for a week. The single had already been released in some Central and Eastern European countries, such as Russia , Poland and the Czech Republic . In Germany, US5 released their fifth single In the Club in October 2006 . This was the first release from their second album In Control , which was released at the end of November and represents a significant musical development compared to the first album. A “US5 style” characterized by R 'n' B can be seen . On this album, the other band members - besides Jay, who was already involved in the songwriting on the first album - contributed to the composition and lyrics of the songs for the first time. The single entered the charts at number two and the album at number six.

2007

The second single One Night with You , which was released in January 2007, came in at number two in the German single charts. In early 2007, the first album in Poland was awarded gold after four weeks; the second reached gold status through pre-orders in February before it was released. With their single Rhythm of Life , an up-tempo number, released in June 2007 , they made it into the top five of the German charts for the seventh time in a row. US5 worked on the expansion of their international career and took numerous promotional appointments and television appearances in Asia, u. a. in Japan and Taiwan, true. In October 2007 it was announced that Mikel had left the band because he was aiming for a solo career. A short time later, Vincent Tomas was introduced as a new US5 member.

2008-2009

In August 2008 it was announced that Chris had left the band for health reasons. Since November 2008 Cayce Clayton is the fifth member of US5. In February 2009 Vincent Tomas left the band together with Izzy, but Izzy returned in mid-March. The new band member Jayson Pena was found in a We Are Family Special Make US5 again . At the end of 2009, the Triple-M management decided to break up the band due to the lack of success.
