Huf House Modum in Mannheim

The Huf Haus GmbH & Co. KG ( own notation : HUF HAUS ) is a company with headquarters in Hartenfels in the Westerwald , which offers international wood and glass buildings. In the field of prefabricated construction, the company is the world market leader and niche leader for half-timbered architecture. In the Bauhaus tradition , the architect Manfred Adams, a student of Sep Ruf , designs all structures that are built on the basis of a half-timbered construction ( timber frame construction ) and consist primarily of wood and glass.

history

In 1912 Johann Huf founded a carpentry shop in the Westerwald village of Krümmel , and a year later the company was relocated to Hartenfels. The son Franz Huf has been running the company since 1948 and expanded it into a supra-regional provider of carpentry work, for example for church buildings in the Rhineland, the construction of the Bonn Oberpostdirektion (1950) and the German and Arab pavilions at the World Exhibition in Brussels (1957/1958 ). In 1972, together with Manfred Adams, the Huf half-timbered house 2000 was developed, the basic principles of which are still implemented in all houses today. From 1996 the grandchildren Georg Huf and Thomas Huf headed the company, which is now pursuing an international expansion strategy. Thomas Huf died on September 20, 2011 at the age of 51.

Company and products

The company produces around 120 buildings (single and multi-family houses and commercial buildings) each year, around 40 percent of which are exported. In 2009 five houses were exported to China. Great Britain was the most important export country in 2008 with almost 50 houses per year. By 2007 Huf Haus had built 107 buildings in Great Britain, where a “Huf Haus owner's group” was founded. Hermann Simon mentioned Huf Haus in his book of the same name as an example of a " hidden champion ". Show houses are set up at the company's headquarters in Hartenfels and at ten other German locations. There are also show homes in Switzerland, Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Romania, Ireland and France.
