Ina Regen (born September 29, 1984 in Grieskirchen , Upper Austria ), real name Regina Mallinger , is an Austrian singer-songwriter .

Life

Regina Mallinger grew up in Gallspach in the Grieskirchen district . After graduating from high school , she studied jazz and popular singing at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz , graduating with distinction in 2008. She received further lessons in pop and musical voice training with Sascha Wienhausen and in acting with Kristian Nekrasov. From 2009 she taught at the Upper Austrian State Music School, from 2012 singing at the Music School Vöcklabruck . In 2003 she also began studying social economics at the University of Linz .

From 2008 to 2013 she was the composer and front singer of the band Beatcollective . As a musical performer , she appeared in the world premiere of Egon Schiele - The Musical as Edith Schiele at the Gutenstein Festival in 2011, and in 2012 at the Künstlerhaus Wien in Gustav Klimt as Helene Flöge and. In the summer of 2016 she took on the role of Morgana at the Austrian premiere of the musical Artus - Excalibur on the Staatz rock stage and in the following year Maria Magdalena in Jesus Christ Superstar . She worked as a background singer in Vienna and sang, among other things with and for Marianne Mendt , Norbert Schneider , Folk help , Lylit, The Makemakes and Dancing Stars -Orchester.

As a composer, she wrote first in English and later in German. With the ballad Wie a Kind , sung in dialect and composed by her together with Florian Cojocaru , she entered the Austrian single charts under the stage name Ina Regen in December 2017. The debut single was played on Ö3 and Life Radio , among others . As part of the ORF broadcast Austria rocks the Song Contest , the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 , she met Conchita Wurst , where she took on the background vocals. Together they released a cover version of Heast as net by Hubert von Goisern in December 2017 .

At the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 she was a member of the five-person Austrian jury. Also in 2018 she released the single Paris and made her debut at the Vienna Donauinselfest on the big festival stage, where she presented other pieces from her debut album Klee in addition to Wie a Kind and Paris . The album was released on November 2, 2018. In September 2018, she appeared at the Starnacht from the Wachau , in December 2018 she was one of the four candidates for the celebrity edition of the millionaire show and in the Helene Fischer Show with Heast as net in a duet Helene Fischer as a guest.

In 2019 she sang the song Woas ned so for his album Spätes Leuchten with André Heller , with Josh. the song Because I don't know . In March 2020 she released the single Leuchten from her second studio album Rot .

The stage name Ina Regen is a reference to her real first name Regina.
