World Dance Sport Federation

The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF, English for "Welttanzsportvereinigung"), until June 19, 2011 International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF), is one of the three world authorities of dance and wheelchair dance . Its president is Shawn Tay and its seat is in Sant Cugat del Vallès , Spain .

The German Dance Sports Association is a member of the WDSF, as is the Austrian Dance Sports Association .

The WDSF has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) since 1997 . She is a member of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), the International World Games Association (IWGA) and the Association of the IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF).

The WDSF emerged in 1990 from the International Council of Amateur Dancers (ICAD) founded in Wiesbaden in 1957 . The association now has 86 national member associations on five continents. 62 of these associations are recognized by their National Olympic Committees. The WDSF represents more than four million athletes. She strives to establish dance as an Olympic sport . The dance sport took part in the medal program at the World Games 2005 in Duisburg .

Disputes with the WDC
