Japan National Football Team / Olympic Games

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Japanese national soccer team or U-23 team first took part in 1936 at the Olympic Games in Berlinpart and was able to win in the round of 16 against Sweden, the first game against a European team with 3-2. In the quarter-finals there was an 8-0 defeat against eventual Olympic champion Italy. In 1948 Japan, like Germany, was not admitted to the Olympic Games. After not taking part in 1952, the end of the first round came in 1956. In 1960, the team could not qualify, but reached the quarter-finals as hosts in 1964. In 1968 he achieved the greatest success so far in an intercontinental tournament when he won the bronze medal. After that, qualifications were repeatedly missed. A Japanese team was only able to qualify for the 1996 Games and has always been since then. The team also took part in the Asian Games that have been held since 1951part for which comparable rules apply. The gold medal was won for the first time in 2010, after finishing second in 2002 and third in 1951 and 1966.
