Yūichi Komano ( Japanese 駒 野 友 一 Komano Yūichi ; born July 25, 1981 in Kainan ) is a Japanese football player .

Career

society

Komano started playing soccer at Ono JFC and Kainan No.3 Junior High School . After the death of his father, he set himself the goal of one day playing in the J. League as well as for the Samurai Blue - the Japanese national team. He was a very promising talent in his youth and was courted by clubs such as Gamba Osaka , JEF United Ichihara and Sanfrecce Hiroshima , to which he joined during his junior days and had been part of the club's J. League squad since 2000 . Since 2001 he has been a regular player in the defense and in the defensive midfield in Hiroshima and remained loyal to the club in the second division year 2003, in which the immediate promotion was possible. His early days were marked by injuries. In 2003 he suffered ligament damage and the following year he broke his collarbone at the Olympic football tournament, but was able to fight his way back every time.

In 2008 he moved to Júbilo Iwata , where the defender, who is characterized by speed, vigilance and tackling strength, as well as his solid passing game, developed into a key player in the team.

National team

As consistently as in the club, Yūichi Komano also plays in the national teams of Japan. In 1999 and 2001 he played in the respective teams of his age group at the Junior World Championships. In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens with the Japanese U23 . And since August 3, 2005 he has been playing in the Japanese senior team . Although he had not yet qualified for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, in the preparatory phase he joined the World Cup squad and played over 90 minutes in Germany.

In the round of 16 of the 2010 World Cup , he missed the decisive penalty in a penalty shoot-out against Paraguay.
