Takayuki Morimoto ( Japanese 森 本 貴 幸 , Morimoto Takayuki ; born May 4, 1988 in Kawasaki ) is a Japanese football player .
Growing up in the youth division of Tokyo Verdy , he moved to Catania on loan in 2006 . Morimoto is currently the youngest Japanese player to make his professional football debut and the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Japanese championships. Jeremy Walker , an expert on Japanese football, compared Morimoto to Ronaldo at the beginning of his career based on his physical condition, strength and speed .
Career

On March 13, 2004 Morimoto made his J. League debut for Tokyo Verdy against Júbilo Iwata at just 15 years, 10 months and 6 days, a league record for the Japanese. Morimoto scored his first goal against JEF United Ichihara on May 5th of the same year, two days before his sixteenth birthday.
In July 2006 Morimoto was loaned to Catania Calcio , and the Sicilian Serie A club also acquired a purchase option.
On January 28, 2007, a few minutes before the end of the game against Atalanta Bergamo , he made his Serie A debut in Catania jersey. Within a few minutes he scored the 1: 1 final score. Four more presences followed without a goal. On the first day of the 2007/08 season against FC Parma , where he was in the starting line-up for the first time, Morimoto met again. During the Coppa Italia game against Udinese Calcio , Morimoto proved once again that he is the man for the important goals, because in the 89th minute he scored the 2-1 lead, making Catania the first time in the club's history Could reach semi-finals.
For the 2008/09 season, Catania took the option to buy Morimoto.
National team
Morimoto was part of the Japanese U-20 national team at the 2005 FIFA Youth World Cup and the 2004 AFC Youth Championships. He also took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
