Hidetoshi Nakata ( Japanese中田英寿Nakata Hidetoshi ; born January 22, 1977 in Kofu ) is a former Japanese football player .
Career
Nakata was the first Japanese since Kazuyoshi Miura in 1994 to move to the Italian Serie A for AC Perugia and this change caused great euphoria in his home country. In January 2000 Nakata went to AS Roma for a transfer fee of the equivalent of 30 million DM , but could not prevail there. After four more transfers, he was loaned to the English club Bolton Wanderers in August 2005 until the end of the season. After the 2006 World Cup , he suddenly ended his career at the age of only 29. At the time he had completed a total of 77 international matches since May 21, 1997, scoring eleven goals.
Nakata is also called the " Beckham of Japan" and has numerous advertising contracts and also his own TV show, which also brought him great fame among non-soccer fans in Japan.
Awards
Nakata was Asia's Footballer of the Year in 1997 and 1998 , won the Italian championship with AS Roma in 2001 and the Italian Cup ( Coppa Italia ) in 2002 and is a member of the FIFA 100 . Nakata was added by level 5 in the game Inazuma Eleven as the best player and as the captain of Italy's national team "Orpheus".
