Yūki Abe ( Japanese 阿 部 勇 樹 , Abe Yūki ; born September 6, 1981 in Ichikawa , Chiba Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player .
Abe played for Ichikawa FC and in the youth team of JEF United Ichihara Chiba before joining the professional team of JEF United Ichihara Chiba in 1998. He played for Chiba until 2006 and was also appointed national player there. With them he won the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup in 2005 and 2006. For Chiba Abe completed 214 league games and scored 36 goals.
In 2007 he switched to the reigning champion Urawa Red Diamonds . Unlike JEF, Abe was used as a defender at Urawa. In his first season for Urawa, he completed 33 games. With Urawa he also won the AFC Champions League 2007 against the Iranian representative Sepahan Isfahan , where he scored the decisive 2-0 for Urawa in the second final game at Saitama Stadium . In December he finished 3rd with Urawa at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan, behind Boca Juniors and AC Milan , who were eliminated in the semi-finals.
On August 26, 2010 Abe moved to the English club Leicester City in the second-rate Football League Championship 2010/11 . In his first season he played 38 competitive games in which he scored one goal. In his sophomore year he scored one goal in 18 competitive games for Leicester City . He signed a free transfer deal with Urawa Red Diamonds on January 23, 2012 . In addition to the AFC Champions League in 2007 , the club won the Japanese League Cup in 2016 and the AFC Champions League in 2017 in his first time at the club .
National team
Yūki Abe was a player for the Japan team at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. He scored a goal in the group game against Italy.
He made his national team debut under Zico on January 29, 2005 against Kazakhstan. Since then, he has played 28 games, scored two goals and was used in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, the Kirin Cup 2007, the 2007 Asian Cup and in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Here he won the Asian Football Championship in 2011 . As with Urawa Red Diamonds, Abe mainly plays in the defensive midfield.
