Atsushi Yanagisawa ( Japanese 柳 沢 敦 Yanagisawa Atsushi ; born May 27, 1977 in Imizu , Toyama Prefecture ) is a Japanese former football player.

Career

society

The striker began his career with Kashima Antlers in 1996 . In the 2003/04 season he played for Sampdoria Genoa in Seria A, but could not assert himself there and moved to FC Messina in 2004 , for which he played until 2006. Since 2006 he has played for Kyoto Sanga FC in the J-League in Japan. In 1997 he was named J. League Best Young Player .

National team

Since 1997 he has also been a member of the youth national team and made his debut in the senior national team at the 1998 World Cup in France. In 2000 he took part in the Olympic football tournament for Japan, as well as in the 2002 World Cup . At the Confederation Cup 2005 he was back in the Japanese squad. He was also part of the squad again on the occasion of the 2006 World Cup . Yanagisawa made 58 international appearances, scoring 16 goals.
