Career
Born in Brazil to a father of Japanese descent and a mother of Italian descent, Tulio moved to Japan at the age of 15, where he first attended high school in Chiba Prefecture . After graduating in 2001, he embarked on a professional football career and was hired by Sanfrecce Hiroshima . He made his debut in the J-League on March 11th against the Kashima Antlers , where he also scored his first goal. Tulio came to a total of 17 appearances this season. In the following 2002 season, Hiroshima was relegated to J2 and the Brazilian Tulio was initially loaned to Mito due to a foreigner restriction . In 2003, however, Tulio obtained Japanese citizenship . After the year in the second division, where he played 42 times for Mito, he did not return to Hiroshima, but switched to the Urawa Reds . There he was already a high performer in his first year and was also appointed to the youth national team of Japan with which he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens . After the runner-up for Urawa, Tulio was voted into the best team of the 2004 season. Even after second place in the 2005 season, Tulio was back in the top team. He was even able to increase this in the following 2006 season, where his performance played a major role in the first championship for Urawa and he was voted the best player of the season. In the national team Tulio was also called up this season, where he made his debut on August 9, 2006 against Trinidad and Tobago . On March 6, 2010, he moved to the J-League club Nagoya Grampus .
Play style
Tulio is a defender who stands out for his high commitment and will to win. He is a relatively big player by Japanese standards and can therefore usually hold his own in air combat. His offensive excursions, through which he has already scored many important goals, are known. He scores most goals with his dreaded headers .
