↑ 3rd league 2018/19 |
The 2018/19 season of the Regionalliga Nord was the 36th season of the Football Regionalliga Nord and the eleventh season of the Football Regionalliga as the fourth-highest division in Germany. It was opened on July 27, 2018 with the game between Hannover 96 II and TSV Havelse .
From this 2018/19 season, a new promotion regulation was in effect in the form that a total of four instead of the previous three teams from the five regional leagues were promoted to the 3rd division. The champions of the regional leagues Southwest, Northeast and West each provided a direct climber. The champions of the Regionalliga Bayern and Regionalliga Nord played in a promotion play-off for the fourth promotion place.
For promotion to the Regionalliga Nord this year, the champions of the Lower Saxony Oberliga were promoted directly. The champions from the upper leagues Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg and Bremen played two more promoted players in a group of three. The last remaining place was played by the runner-up from the Oberliga Niedersachsen in a relegation against the fifteenth (fourth from bottom) of the regional league.
Season course
The VfL Wolfsburg II , which could no longer be displaced from the top position from the ninth match day, put on 25 with his matchday 22 game without defeat in a row the record of VfB Oldenburg from the season 2015/16 one. Only VfB Lübeck , the team with the highest average attendance in the league, was the only direct competitor for long stretches. The 8: 0 of the Wolfsburg Reserve on matchday 7 against TSV Havelse was also the highest win of the season. On the 33rd match day, Lower Saxony sealed the regional league championship and qualified for the third division promotion game against the second team of Bayern Munich , but failed again after a 3-1 and a 1: 4.
The newly promoted VfL Oldenburg and Lupo Martini Wolfsburg were already determined to be relegated before the end of the season. The 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder completed the relegation trio, the Lüneburg SK Hansa held the class over the relegation games against Eintracht Northeim .

Promotion and relegation regulation
Promotion to the 3rd division
As champions, VfL Wolfsburg II was athletically qualified for the promotion to the 3rd soccer league . Against the champions of the Regionalliga Bayern, FC Bayern Munich II, the team failed after a 3-1 home win by a 1: 4 defeat in the following away game. After 2014 and 2016, this was the third time that VfL Wolfsburg II was defeated by the respective opponent in the promotion qualification.
Relegation from the Regionalliga Nord
The exact number also depends on the number of relegated players from the 3rd division in 2018/19 . As a rule, three clubs are relegated, while the club in 15th place (if the champions of the Regionalliga Nord should win the promotion games: 16th place) contests a relegation with the runner-up of the Oberliga Niedersachsen. The following scheme applies:
Number of teams in 2018/19 | 18th | 18th |
---|---|---|
- Promoted to the 3rd division | 0 | 1 |
+ Relegated from the 3rd division | 0 | 0 |
+ Promoted to the Regionalliga Nord | 3 + (1 ↑ ↓) | 3 + (1 ↑ ↓) |
- Relegated from the Regionalliga Nord | 3 + (1 ↑ ↓) | 2 + (1 ↑ ↓) |
