Career
Career start in Flensburg, Kiel and Hanover
Utku Şen was born on June 15, 1998 as the son of Turks who emigrated to Germany in the northern German port city of Flensburg and was active in his youth for TSB Flensburg before he joined the Holstein Kiel club, an hour away by car . There he went through all youth league classes until 2014 and then moved to the junior division of Hannover 96 for a year . After playing for the Kiel B-Juniors in the northeast relay of the B-Junior Bundesliga in 2013/14 , he was also active in the B-Jugend in the same league for the Hanoverians. After returning to Kiel, he played for the first time in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga and in 2015/16 played 24 of the 26 possible championship games in the North / Northeast relay, scoring three times and making two or three assists. In the final ranking Holstein Kiel took tenth place in the table; seven points away from a relegation zone. In the 2015/16 DFB Junior Club Cup , Şen also played in two games and was eliminated with his team in the quarter-finals against the youngsters from Borussia Dortmund .
Torgarant in the A-Juniors Bundesliga
In the following 2016/17 , the Turkish-born offensive player fell out mainly because of his scoring risk. In 22 league appearances, he scored 21 goals and was the top scorer in the North / Northeast relay of the A-Junioren-Bundesliga. There were also three assists; with the team he ended the season in the sometimes quite tightly staggered final table in sixth place. In the 2016/17 DFB Junior Club Cup , Şen played his team’s first game, the round of 16 against Hallescher FC , and scored the 2-0 lead in a 3-0 home win. In the next encounter, a 1: 2 defeat after extra time against 1. FC Köln , the 1.72 m tall attacker was not in the squad. Due to his offensive performance, Şen was used in two test games of the professional team in June 2017, scoring five goals in a 13-0 victory over Gettorfer SC and two goals in the game against MTV Tellingstedt to the 9-0 success.
Jump into professional football
After the young offensive player was said to have already been in discussion with clubs like Liverpool FC or Bayern Munich , Şen's first professional season began in 2017/18 with Holstein Kiel, where he signed a professional contract that ran until 2019. At the beginning of 2017, he completed the first training camp on the Costa Brava with the Kiel professionals . On July 30, 2017, the first game of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga 2017/18 , Utku Şen, who would like to play for the national teams of Turkey, made his professional football debut when his coach Markus Anfang beat him in a 2-2 home draw the SV Sandhausen from the 87 minutes for Steven Lewerenz einwechselte. He then played mainly in the second team of Holstein Kiel with play in the Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein and came there by the end of the year on three hits and one template in seven championship games. Nothing is known about further appearances in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga in the 2017/18 season, although Şen often did not appear in men's football for weeks.
On January 30, 2018, VfL Osnabrück announced the loan commitment Şen until June 30, 2018. Only a few days later he made his competitive debut for the Osnabrück in the 0-1 away defeat against Hallescher FC when coach Daniel Thioune took him from the 63 minutes of play for Jules Reimerink . At Osnabrück he only acted as a substitute in the third division team and made nine league appearances by the end of the season in mid-May 2018, although he himself remained goalless. There was also a brief appearance in the Lower Saxony Cup 2017/18 , when his team was eliminated on penalties in the semifinals against SV Drochtersen / Assel . With a 17th place in the final standings of the 3rd soccer league 2017/18 , Osnabrück just managed to stay in the league.
