Sergei Nikolayevich Davidenkov ( Russian Сергей Николаевич Давыденков , scientific. Transliteration Sergei Nikolajevic Davidenkov ; August * 25 . Jul / 6. September  1880 greg. In Riga , Governorate of Livonia , Russian Empire ; † 2. July 1961 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg ) , USSR ) was a Russian and Soviet neurogeneticist, founder of neurogenetics as a science. He delivered significant work in the areas of classification of hereditary diseases of the nervous system and medical and genetic advice. He received the Order of Lenin , the Order of the Red Star and the medal "Victory over Germany" .

Life

Sergei Dawidenkow was born on September 6, 1880 in Riga into a family of teachers. In 1904 he finished his studies at Moscow University (now Lomonosov University ). He worked at the Specialized Hospitals for Psychiatry in Moscow Governments and Kharkov Governments . Then he taught in various educational institutions in Kharkiv , Baku and Moscow . In 1912 he was elected professor of the Institute of Mental Disease at the Kharkiv Feminine Medical College. During the time of the Russian Civil War he had carried out a comprehensive study of the hereditary diseases. From 1925 he headed the Institute of Diseases of the Nervous System at Baku University . A short time later he became the rector of the university. Davidenkow moved to Leningrad in 1932, where he taught at the Leningrad Medical Academy for postgraduate studies. In 1935 he was elected professor.

In the Second World War he was raised to the rank of senior physician. Dawidenkow worked as an independent doctor in the war hospitals. Then he became chief neurologist on the Leningrad front . In the encircled Leningrad he wrote a book Evolutionary Genetic Problems in Neuropathology .

Until the end of his life he was head of the Institute for Nervous Diseases. In July 1961, Davidenkow was buried in the Leningrad Bogoslowskoye Cemetery.
