Gökhan Ünal (born July 23, 1982 in Ankara ) is a Turkish football player .

Youth career

Gökhan Ünal started his club football career at Petrol Ofisi SK and played here until 1997. Then in 1999 he moved to the youth of the Süper Lig club Gençlerbirliği Ankara .

Club career

Ünal began his professional career in the 2000/01 season at Gençlerbirliği Ankara , where he could not assert himself. Gençlerbirliği first loaned him to the second team to Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ , which was followed by further awards. With Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ Ünal only stayed in the first half of the 2001/02 season. With OFTAŞ he played in the 3rd division and convinced with ten goals. Ankaraspor therefore borrowed him from Gençlerbirliği Ankara for the entire second half of the season. Gökhan Ünal fell into a bad form and only scored one goal for the Leopards in the second half of the season , so they were no longer interested in a common future. In the 2nd league with Yimpaş Yozgatspor he played a bad season, in 19 competitive games Ünal only met three times.

In the 2003/04 season he moved to Kayserispor, was able to quickly maintain a regular place in the 2nd division and became more dangerous over time. During his first season at Kayserispor (in the Süper Lig ), he was rarely used and was considered a noble joker, as he scored very important goals in the last game days and thus saved the club from relegation. He became famous for his two goals in the final minutes against Galatasaray Istanbul , when he headed two goals to the 2-2 final score. In the 2005/06 season he had his breakthrough and was the top scorer in the Süper Lig with 25 goals . He also managed a flawless hat trick (14 minutes, 26 minutes and 36 minutes) on matchday 33 on May 6, 2006 in a 7-2 win over Manisaspor , with Gökhan Ünal scoring four goals that day . His strengths are mainly in his ball control, speed and shooting power. Ünal celebrated his greatest success so far with Kayserispor when he won the Turkish Cup in 2008. He was unable to play because of an injury. He moved to Trabzonspor for the 2008/09 season . The transfer fee for him was over six million euros.

Gökhan Ünal moved to traditional club Fenerbahçe Istanbul during the winter break of the 2009/10 season . There he signed a three and a half year contract until May 31, 2013. The transfer fee was 3.5 million euros. In addition to the transfer fee, Burak Yılmaz moved to Trabzonspor. Under the new coach Aykut Kocaman Gökhan Ünal was rarely used. For the second half of the 2010/11 season he was therefore loaned to Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor for the rest of the season.

For the 2011/12 season he moved to his old place of work, Kayserispor . He came in partial consideration for Serdar Kesimal, who had moved to Fenerbahçe . On February 20, 2012 it was announced that after mutual agreement with his club, his current contract had been terminated.

In the last week of the summer transfer period 2012, his move to the Turkish first division club Karabükspor was announced. In a year and a half for Kardemir Karabükspor, Ünal played 19 league games and scored four times. For the second half of the 2013/14 season he moved to Ankaraspor , in the 2nd Turkish Football League .

In the summer of 2014 he moved to the Süper Lig promoted Balıkesirspor . With his two goals against Bursaspor on March 13, 2015 , he became the 33rd player to make it into the 100 ° Kulübü of the Süper Lig.

For the 2015/16 season he moved to the second division Karşıyaka SK .

National team

Gökhan Ünal made his international debut for Turkey on March 1, 2006 in a friendly against the Czech Republic . On May 28, 2006, he scored his first international goal in a friendly against Estonia . He has played 15 international matches so far, scoring four goals. Despite the appearances in the EM 2008 qualification , Gökhan Ünal was not nominated for the EM squad .
