history

Petrol Ofisi SK was founded in 1954 under the name Petrolspor Kulübü as a company sports club of the then state-owned mineral oil company Petrol Ofisi . In the summer of 1964, the football division made it into the second-highest Turkish division, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi , which had been newly founded just a year earlier . At that time, the association was also listed under the short name Petrolspor in the tables . After four years in this league, they rose to the third highest division, today's Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi , in the summer of 1968 . A year earlier, the club name changed to the current form Petrol Ofisi SK . In the third highest division, the club played until the summer of 1979 and then rose to the regional amateur league.

The club only returned to the 2nd Futbol Ligi in the summer of 1981. In the meantime, the 3rd league was abolished in the summer of 1980, so that the champions from the regional amateur leagues rose directly to the 2nd league. The club played here continuously until the summer of 1994. As early as the late 1980s, the club repeatedly occupied top places in the table and missed promotion to the 1st league several times as a runner-up in the 2nd division . The 1993/94 season ended as a second division champion and thus made it to the 1st league for the first and only time in the club's history . In the first division season 1994/95 , the club started unhappy and occupied a relegation place early. Although the club collected 29 points by the end of the season, it was unable to overtake its direct competitors and was relegated to the second division again. This relegation was followed in the summer of 1996 by relegation from the 2nd division, so that the club was third class. After two years in the 3rd league , the club rose again to the second division in 1998 and was relegated after just one season.

In the summer of 2000, the state oil company was privatized and then sold to Doğan Sirketler Grubu Holding . The new owners quickly decided not to continue running the sports club and withdrew from the club. Without a main sponsor and a real fan base, the club survived two seasons in professional football and was relegated to the amateur league in summer 2001.

In 2010, the club got into a legal dispute with the Turkish Football Association because of the violation of the brand name Petrol Ofisi . The football association refused to recognize the club's name and thus dissolved the club.
