The Türkiye Kupası 1978/79 was the 18th edition of the Turkish soccer cup competition . The competition began on September 2, 1979 with the 1st main round and ended on May 28, 1980 with the second leg of the finals. Galatasaray Istanbul and Altay Izmir met in the final. Altay took part in the final for the second time, and Galatasaray for the eighth time.
Afyon Demirspor , Elazığ İdman Yurdu , Erzincanspor (amateurs) , Manisa Acar İdman Yurdu were suspended for this season.
