Hasan Eser Özaltındere (born February 13, 1954 in Ankara ) is a former Turkish football goalkeeper and coach. Through his many years of work for Galatasaray Istanbul , he is strongly associated with this association. On fan and club pages he is seen as one of the most important players in club history.
Player career
Gençlerbirliği Ankara and Adana Demirspor
Özaltındere started playing football in Artvin Province . He started his professional career in 1972 with the second division team Gençlerbirliği Ankara . During this time Özaltındere studied at the İktisadi ve Ticari İlimler Akademisi . (German Academy of Economics). In 1974 he moved to the first division club Adana Demirspor . At this club he immediately established himself as a goalkeeper, ousted Erdem Arat from this post and gradually became a top performer of his team. For this club Özaltındere played the next four seasons and always occupied with this table places in the middle table segment. Only in its last season with Demirspor, the 1962/63 season , the club slipped into the lower regions of the table and even played against relegation towards the end of the season. In the end, the club managed to stay up. Contrary to this trend, the club caused a surprise in the Turkish Football Cup in the same season and reached the cup final. After two finals, the club lost to Trabzonspor , but achieved one of the greatest successes in the club's history by reaching the finals.
During his time at Demirspor Özaltındere increased his performances and became a regularly nominated national player.
Galatasaray Istanbul
In the summer of 1976, long-time goalkeeper Yasin Özdenak moved to New York Cosmos at Galatasaray Istanbul . The club tried the coming season only with the other goalkeeper Nihat Akbay and his two representatives Yılmaz Pamuk and Doğan Özdenak to exist. After this, however, from the point of view of the coaching staff, showed unsatisfactory performance, the Yugoslav goalkeeper Boško Kajganić and the Turkish goalkeeper Bahattin Demircan were committed in the summer of 1977 . After Kajganić had a fatal accident in a traffic accident near Silivri in November 1977 , the season with Akbay and Demircan was brought to an end. As Akbay announced his retirement next summer, the club was looking for a young goalkeeper.
Since Özaltındere had established himself as his most promising young goalkeeper during his time at Demirspor, Galatasaray signed him in the summer of 1979. Özaltındere rose straight away to become the goalkeeper and played in almost all competitive games in his first season for this club. His team competed for the Turkish championship with Trabzonspor until the end of the season. At the end of the season, the Turkish championship was awarded to Trabzonspor with one point difference. Immediately after the end of the season Özaltındere won the Prime Minister's Cup with his team , which Özaltındere had won his first title at club level. Also in the next season Özaltındere kept his position within the team. However, his club experienced the most difficult time in its history and was faced with relegation until the end of the season. In the new season Özaltınderes club recovered from the previous season and finished the league in 3rd place in the table. Özaltındere has played 24 league games this season. In the new season, the 1981/82 season , he stayed out for several weeks due to a hand injury and only played 16 of the possible 30 league games. His team won the Turkish Football Cup and TSYD Cup this season . In addition, his team won the Devlet Başkanlığı Cup . For the next season, Özaltındere recovered from his injury and played almost all competitive games for his club. This missed the connection to the top of the table towards the end of the season and remained without a title in the other competitions. Özaltındere played one of his most noticeable games of his career this season. In the European Cup Winners' Cup of the 1982/83 season , Galatasaray met the Austrian representative FK Austria Wien in the second round . Galatasaray lost their first game 2: 4 in front of their home crowd. In the second leg of November 3, 1982, Galatasaray played again clearly inferior, but the attempts at goal by the Viennese players failed at the parades of Özaltındere. With a goal from Mustafa Ergücü in the 63rd minute, Galatasaray won 1-0. Özaltındere received very good reviews from the trade press after the game.
During the season, Özaltındere was often out due to injury. His previous hand injury never healed properly. So he completed only ten league games by the end of the season. After these injury-related failures, he was put on the injury list by head coach Tomislav Ivić .
Further career progression
According to the report by Ivić, Özaltındere was sold to league rivals Sakaryaspor in the summer of 1984 and the Yugoslav goalkeeper Zoran Simović was signed in his place . Özaltındere played for Sakaryaspor one season and completed 20 league games. Then he left this club again. In the following he played in turn for the clubs Üsküdar Anadolu SK , Yalovaspor , Feriköy SK and Galata SK and then ended his career in 1992.
National team
Özaltındere has played seven games for the Turkish U-21 national team and eight games for the Turkish national team . In most of the U-21 missions, Özaltındere was well over 21 years old.
His last international match was on March 9, 1983 against the Romanian national team .
Coaching career
Özaltındere has already attended coaching courses in the last few years of his goalkeeping career. After the end of his goalkeeping career, he first concentrated on his studies and then decided to work as a goalkeeping coach from then on. His first job was in the 1994/95 season at Galatasaray, where he assisted head coach Reinhard Saftig . After Saftig was dismissed in March 1995, Müfit Erkasap took over the team as head coach until the end of the season. Özaltındere no longer assisted him as a goalkeeping coach, but as an assistant coach. For the next season he worked again as a goalkeeping coach and assisted the new head coach Graeme Souness . From 1996 he worked with the head coach Fatih Terim with whom he had already played at Galatasaray when he was playing. In March 2004 he left Galatasaray.
