Bülent Ünder (born April 16, 1949 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish soccer player and current coach. He was an integral part of the team that the club and the fans call legendary, which was the first club to win the Turkish championship three times in a row in the 1970/71 , 1971/72 and 1972/73 seasons .

Player career

Ünder played his entire career for Galatasaray Istanbul . In eight seasons, Ünder was three times Turkish football champion and twice cup winners. He ended his career in 1978 with a farewell game against city rivals Fenerbahçe Istanbul .

National team

Ünder played nine games for the Turkish national soccer team between 1973 and 1974. In 1974 he took part in the ECO Cup with Turkey and won it at the end of the tournament.

Coaching career

Bülent Ünder began his coaching career in the 1991/92 season at Çengelköyspor . After only a year, Ünder moved to the then second division Denizlispor . However, he was released there after a short time. Ünder returned to the coaching bench three years later as Fatih Terim's assistant coach for Galatasaray Istanbul. From 1996 to 2000, Bülent Ünder was next to Terim four times Turkish champion, two Turkish Cup winners and UEFA Cup winners.

After Terim left Galatasaray in the summer of 2000 and moved to Italy for Fiorentina , Ünder also left Galatasaray and became head coach at Samsunspor in the 2000/01 season . In his only season, he managed to beat Galatasaray with his team at their own home stadium, something few were able to do at the time.

During the 2005/06 season, Bülent Ünder returned to Galatasaray Istanbul. He was a game analyst for Eric Gerets . Since March 25, 2011, Ünder has been the chief trainer of Galatasaray Istanbul. The commitment is valid until the end of the season.
