Güngör Tekin (born January 4, 1953 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player . In December 1998 Tekin was sentenced to 23 years in prison in England for drug smuggling .

Athletic career

In the club

Güngör Tekin started his career at Üsküdarspor . The defender played there until 1973. Before the start of the 1973/74 season, he moved to the first division Giresunspor . There Tekin immediately belonged to the first eleven. In two years for Giresunspor, he completed 55 league games and scored one goal.

After two years in Giresun, Tekin returned to Istanbul and became a Galatasaray player . In his first season for the yellow-reds , the midfielder came to 21 league games. At the end of the season he won the Turkish Cup for the first time. His second and last cup success with Galatasaray followed in 1979 when he won the Başbakanlık Kupası . In 1980 Tekin moved to Toronto Blizzard in Canada .

After a year, the defender came back to Turkey and signed with Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In two years for yellow-blue he made 19 league games and was Turkish champion at the end of his career.
