The Şanlıurfaspor is a Turkish football club from Şanlıurfa . The team plays their home games at the Şanlıurfa GAP Stadı . The club colors are yellow-green and were suggested by the writer Mustafa Dişli , with the yellow representing a ripe wheat ear and the green an unripe wheat ear. In addition to soccer, the club has a basketball team that competes in the amateur league.

history

founding

The club was created on June 1, 1963 from a merger of the clubs Kahraman Uyanışspor , Beşiktaş and 11 Nisanspor . The club took part in professional game operations for the first time in the 1969/70 season. In the then third highest Turkish league, the 3rd Türkiye Ligi , they played their first game against Kırşehirspor .

The following years the club took part in the third and second highest Turkish league.

The 2011/12 season ended as champions of the TFF 2nd Lig and thus achieved direct promotion to the TFF 1st Lig after an eleven-year absence .
