Mustafa Koray Avcı (born May 19, 1978 in İzmit ) is a former Turkish football player .

Player career

society

Avcı began his professional career with the amateurs of Kocaelispor . After two years he moved first to the second Turkish division to PTT SK , then to Batman Petrolspor . 1999/00 Avcı signed a five-year contract with the first division club Çaykur Rizespor . In the winter of 2004/05 he moved to the Istanbul club Beşiktaş , where he signed a four-year contract.

By swapping players with Filip Hološko , Avcı moved to Manisaspor with Burak Yılmaz in spring 2008 . For this club he only played the first half of the season and was only used sporadically. Therefore, he left Manisaspor at the end of the season and moved within the league to Gençlerbirliği Ankara .

For the 2010/11 season, he agreed with his old club Çaykur Rizespor . At this club he had his breakthrough as a professional player for eleven years. He left this club after just one season.

For the 2011/12 season he moved to the TFF 2nd Lig to Şanlıurfaspor . Here he quickly established himself as a top performer and also became team captain. He finished the season with his team as champions of the TFF 2nd Lig and thus achieved direct promotion to the TFF 1st Lig . Avcı Şanlıurfaspor stayed for the following season. Due to fan riots, the game between Şanlıurfaspor and 1461 Trabzon on October 14, 2012 in the 34th minute when the score was 1: 2 by the referee Hüseyin Sabancı was canceled. The Turkish Football Association will announce the decision on how to proceed in the following days. After both sides had given their opinion, the football association decided that Şanlıurfaspor, the home team, was responsible for the rioting and, in addition to a fine, imposed a game ban on some players. In addition, it was decided that two home games of Şanlıurfaspor should be played in another city and without spectators. One of the banned players was Avcı, who received a five-game ban. About a week after this sentence, the club announced the termination of the contract with Avcı.

In the summer of 2012 he announced the end of his professional career.

National team

In May 2004, five days after his 26th birthday, Avcı made his senior national team debut in a friendly against Australia . The Turkey then won 1: 0 in Sydney with a goal from Hakan Şükür .
