Thawi Watthana ( Thai ทวี วัฒนา ) is one of the 50 khet (districts) in Bangkok , the capital of Thailand .

geography

Thawi Watthana is bounded in the north by the Khlong Mahawat, in the east by the Western Outer Ring Road, in the south by Khlong Bang Chueng Nang and Khlong Bang Phai and in the west by about Phutthamonthon Sai 4.

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Amphoe Bang Kruai of Nonthaburi province , the districts Taling Chan , Bang Khae and Nong Khaem and Amphoe Phuttha Monthon the province of Nakhon Pathom .

Attractions

  • The Utthayan Road , the Boulevard to Phutthamonthon -Park, is one of the most beautiful boulevards in Thailand. The road is 90 meters wide and 3861 meters long. A middle avenue is accompanied by two narrow streets in parallel. The light poles along the full length of the street are decorated with Hong ( หงส์ ), swan-like birds from Thai mythology that carry the lamps in their beaks. Utthayan Road was planned by Phibul Songkhram , the prime minister in the 1950s, as part of the Phutthamonthon project. The project was suspended when he left office and was only resumed and completed in 1999. The original name of this street was Aksa ( อักษะ ), Thai for "The Axis".
  • Siamese Cat Park ( อุทยาน แมว ไทย โบราณ ), rare Siamese cats of the breed Khao Manee ( ขาว ) are bred here.
  • Thalat Nat Thon Buri ( ตลาดนัด ธนบุรี , literally: Thonburi Flea Market) or Sanam Luang 2 ( สนามหลวง 2 ) is a market that sells agricultural products, pets, orchids, etc. The largest selection is available here on weekends. Second hand goods can be found here on Mondays and Tuesdays. The name "Sanam Luang 2" comes from Sanam Luang , the oval square in front of the Grand Palace in the center of Bangkok. The weekend market took place there in the 1970s and is now in the Chatuchak district.
