Pom Prap Sattru Phai ( Thai ป้อมปราบศัตรูพ่าย ) is one of the 50 districts ( Khet ) in Bangkok , the capital of Thailand . Pom Prap Sattru Phai is located in the downtown area.
geography
Pom Prap Sattru Phai is bounded to the north and east by Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem , to the south by Thanon Charoen Krung (Charoen Krung Street), and to the west by Khlong Rop Krung (called "Khlong Ong Ang" in this section) and from Ratchadamnoen Nok Boulevard .
The neighboring districts are clockwise from the north: Dusit , Ratchathewi , Pathum Wan , Bang Rak , Samphanthawong, and Phra Nakhon . The district is named after a historic fort (in Thai: Pom ) near the Nang Loeng Market. Literally translated the name means "Fort to the prostration of the enemy".
population
With around 25,000 inhabitants per km² (as of 2016), Pom Prap Sattru Phai is the most densely populated district in Bangkok. However, the number of inhabitants has been declining continuously since the early 1990s. It fell from 86,397 in 1991 to 47,450 in 2016.

- Wat Saket ( วัด สระ เกศ ) with the "Golden Mountain" (Thai ภูเขาทอง or พระบรม บรรพต , English Golden Mount ).
- Wat Mongkon Kamalawat (Thai: วัด มังกร กมลา วา ส ; also: Wat Leng Nei Yi , วัด เล่ ง เน่ ย ยี่ ), well-known Mahayana Buddhist temple in "Chinatown".
- Varadis Palace (Wang Varadis) - Prince Damrong Rajanubhab used to live here . The palace was designed in 1911 by the German architect Karl Döhring . The building not far from the lively Thanon Lan Luang (Lan Luang Street) was renovated in 1996 on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the prince's death and converted into a museum with an attached library (the “Prince Damrong Rachanupab Museum and Library”).

traffic
In addition to the usual road traffic, there are speedboats on the Khlong Maha Nak ( คลอง มหานาค ) and the Khlong Saen Saep in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district . The route begins at the Phan Fa Lilat Bridge (near Golden Mount) and ends at Pratu Nam in Pathum Wan / Ratchathewi , where passengers can transfer to other boat lines.
The blue metro line with the Wat Mangkon stop runs along the southern edge of the district .
