Bang Phlat ( Thai : บางพลัด , pronunciation: [bāːŋ pʰlát] ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet) in Bangkok , the capital of Thailand . Bang Phlat is a city district on the north west bank of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya ( Chao Phraya River ).

geography

Bang Phlat is bounded to the north by the southern railway line, to the east by Mae Nam Chao Phraya and to the south by the roads (Thanon) Somdet Phra Pin Klao and the Borommaratchachonnani.

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Amphoe Bang Kruai in the province of Nonthaburi , Bang Sue , Dusit , Phra Nakhon , Bangkok Noi and Taling Chan in Bangkok.

history

Bang Phlat was one of the 25 districts established in 1925 when Bangkok's inner districts were reorganized. In 1938 it became a subdistrict of Bangkok Noi.

In 1989, the Bang Phlat was rebuilt with four subdistricts that were spun off from Bangkok Noi.

The area west of the Thanon Borommaratchachonnani and Somdet Phra Pin Klao Road was reintegrated into Bangkok Noi in 1991.

traffic

The blue line of the Bangkok Metro (MRT) runs through the district with the stations Bang O , Bang Phlat , Sirindhorn and Bang Yi Khan . Its course corresponds to that of the Thanon Charan Sanitwong.

Five bridges connect Bang Phlat with the other bank of the Chao Phraya River: from north to south these are the Phra Pokklao Bridge , Rama VI Bridge (Railway), Krung Thon Bridge , Rama VIII Bridge and the Phra Pinklao Bridge .
