The Krung Thon Bridge ( Thai สะพาน กรุงธน ) is a bridge over the Mae Nam Chao Phraya ( Chao Phraya River ). It connects the two districts ( Khet ) Dusit and Bang Phlat in Bangkok , the capital of Thailand .

Construction began on October 31, 1954 and lasted until shortly before the official opening on March 7, 1958.

The construction of the bridge consists of a superstructure made of steel - trusses , which extends over six fields on pillars in the Chao Phraya. The bridge has four lanes and a pedestrian path.

The overall length is 642.7 meters, the largest span is 64 meters with a maximum depth of 7.5 meters.
