The Phra Pinklao Bridge ( Thai สะพาน สมเด็จพระปิ่นเกล้า ) is a bridge over the Mae Nam Chao Phraya ( Chao Phraya River ) in Bangkok , which leads from the district ( Khet ) Phra Nakhon to Bangkok Noi near the Grand Palace .

The Phra Pinklao Bridge is made of prestressed concrete in the form of a haunched box girder bridge . Construction work on the Phra Pinklao Bridge began in 1971 and lasted until 1973. It was officially opened on September 24, 1973. It has six lanes and a pedestrian overpass. The total length of the bridge is 689 meters, of which 176 meters on the Bangkok driveway and 206 meters on the driveway from Thonburi. It consists of three spans (83 meters - 110 meters - 83 meters). The clear height is 11.5 meters.

The bridge is named after Phra Pinklao , the Maha Uparat (viceroy) of Siam (1851–1866).
