Bang Sue ( Thai : บางซื่อ , bāːŋ sɯ̂ː ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet) in Bangkok , the capital of Thailand . Bang Sue is a northern district and is halfway between the center of the capital and Don Mueang Airport .

geography

Bang Sue is bounded in the north by Khlong Bang Khen , which also forms the border with Nonthaburi Province , in the east by the railway line Bangkok Hua Lamphong Station - Northern Thailand , in the south by Khlong Bang Sue and in the west by Mae Nam Chao Phraya ( Chao-Phraya River ).

The neighboring counties are clockwise from the east: Chatuchak , Phaya Thai , Dusit , Bang Phlat , in Nonthaburi province: Bang Kruai and Mueang Nonthaburi .

Attractions

  • Rama VI Bridge - the first bridge to cross the Mae Nam Chao Phraya was officially opened on January 1, 1923 and named after King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) . The bridge is 442 meters long and 10 meters wide, it originally had two separate lanes for road and rail traffic. The bridge was badly damaged in the Second World War , after being rebuilt it was reopened on December 12, 1953. In 1992 road traffic was taken over by the nearby Phra Pokklao Bridge (Rama VII Bridge) , so that today only the railroad crosses the bridge.

The station Bang Sue is also the only rail yard Thailand. This is where the new Bang Sue Central Station , which is to open in January 2021, is being built. The blue and purple lines of the Bangkok Metro also meet in this district .

education

The main campus of King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok is in the Bang Sue district .
