King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) ( Thai มหาวิทยาลัย เทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้า พระนครเหนือ ) is a public university in Thailand. It has three campuses - one in northern Bangkok, one in Prachinburi Province and one in Rayong Province (campus is under construction).
history
- The institution was founded in 1959 as a cooperation between the Thai government and the Federal Republic of Germany as the "Thai-German Technical School".
- In 1964 the school was upgraded to North Bangkok Technical College.
- In 1971, the college merged with Thonburi Technical College and Telecommunication College Nonthaburi. The new institution formed the campus of the "King Mongkut's Institute of Technology" in north Bangkok.
- In 1974 three new faculties were established
- In 1986 the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology split into three autonomous universities.

- In 1995 the KMITNB acquired land in the Prachinburi Province for a new campus, "KMITNB Prachinburi".
- In 2007 the institute was upgraded to the rank of university. The name was changed to "King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok" (KMUTNB).
Symbols
The university color is Vermillion (also: vermilion), the university tree is the Pterocarpus macrocarpus (Thai: Pradoo)
General and location
The North Bangkok King Mongkut's University of Technology campus is located in the Bangsue district, not far from the Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon . The area of the university campus is 13 hectares . There are 13 academic buildings, 5 workshops and 9 other buildings on the site. The Prachinburi Campus is located on 197 hectares with eight academic buildings.
King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok offers undergraduate and graduate programs as well as doctoral studies. The chairman of the university council is Kasem Suwannagul, the president is Teravuti Boonyasopon.

Ranking
In the QS World University Ranking 2013, the KMUTB was one of the leading institutions in Thailand in the field of engineering. It took second place in the computer science, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering and production engineering categories.
