history
The Srinakharinwirot University was founded in 1949 on the Prasarnmit campus, initially as a school for teachers at higher education institutions. It was the first higher education institution that focused exclusively on the training of teachers. The area was characterized by swamps , khlongs and aquatic life. The first director was Sarot Buasri. In 1953 it was converted into a college of education and was given the right to award a bachelor's degree in education in a number of subject areas.
A series of training courses for Bachelor and Master courses were then developed. In 1964 branches were established in various regions of the country:
- in the north of the Phitsanulok campus , since 1990 the Naresuan University
- in the northeast of the Maha Sarakham campus , since 1994 the Maha Sarakham University
- in the east of the Bang Saen campus ( Chon Buri province ), since 1990 Burapha University
- in the south of the Songkhla campus , since 1996 Thaksin University
On June 28, 1974, she received university status
The space requirements finally exceeded the possibilities in the early 1990s and so a new campus was created in 1996 in Amphoe Ongkharak , Nakhon Nayok province , about 70 kilometers away.
