The King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) ( Thai มหาวิทยาลัย เทคโนโลยี พระจอมเกล้า ธนบุรี dt about. University King Mongkut Thonburi ,. Named after Rama IV Mongkut ) is located south of Bangkok in the district Thung Khru .
history
On February 4, 1960, the Thonburi Technology Institute (TTI) was established by the Department of Vocational Training, Ministry of Education . The TTI had the task of training technicians, technical trainers and technologists.
In 1971 a new technology law came into force. The Vocational Training Department brought the Thonburi Technology Institute (TTI), the North Bangkok Technology Institute and the Nonthaburi Telecommunication Institute to the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology (KMIT). The former TTI thus became the KMIT Thonburi Campus.
In 1974, KMIT was transferred from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Higher Education. A law passed in 1986 made the three campuses back into three autonomous institutions. The KMIT Thonburi Campus became King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Thonburi (KMITT).
On March 7, 1998, it was announced in the Royal Gazette that the KMITT would be granted university status. The educational institution, now called King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), was the first public university in Thailand to receive full autonomy. Their administrative system corresponds to that of international state universities.
