The Princess of Naradhiwas University ( Thai มหาวิทยาลัย นราธิวาส ราช นครินทร์ , RTGS Mahawitthayalai Narathiwat Ratchanakkharin , "Princess of Narathiwat University"; English Princess of Naradhiwas University , short: PNU) is a university in the province of Narathiwat in the southern region of Thailand . It is named after Princess Galyani Vadhana , the sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej , who died in 2008 and who bore the title of Princess of Narathiwat.
Following a cabinet decision of July 8, 2003, the university was created from four existing educational institutions:
- the Narathiwat Vocational School
- the Narathiwat School of Agriculture and Technology
- the Tak Bai vocational school
- the Boromarajonani Nursing School
The university is located in the troubled zone of southern Thailand , where not only military personnel and police officers but also teachers in particular are the target of attacks by armed separatists. This leads to special security measures in the Princess of Naradhiwas University.
