The Rajabhat University Chiang Mai ( Thai : มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏเชียงใหม่ , short: CMRU) is a university in the Rajabhat system in Chiang Mai , northern Thailand , at which about 10,000 students are enrolled (as of 2010).

history

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University was founded in 1924 as a college of teachers engaged in agriculture. In 1948 the facility became a general Chiang Mai teachers' college offering various training courses, and since 1956 female students have also been admitted to the course.

On February 14, 1992, King Bhumibol Adulyadej named all 36 teachers 'colleges in the country the "Rajabhat Institute" - including the Chiang Mai teachers' college - all of which were promoted to universities with effect from June 15, 2004.

Currently (as of 2012) Ruangdet Wongla is President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University.

location

The university is located in the center of Chiang Mai on Chang Puek Street.

College campus

There are four campuses, three of which are outside Chiang Mai city.

The main Wieng Boa site is in Chiang Mai. There are also two areas in Amphoe Mae Rim , namely

  • Mae Sa (for management science; about 10 kilometers from Chiang Mai) and
  • Sa Luang as an agricultural center (about 27 kilometers from Chiang Mai)

as well as an area in Mae Hong Son that takes on educational tasks.
