The Mae Fah Luang University ( Thai มหาวิทยาลัย แม่ ฟ้า หลวง , RTGS : Mahawitthayalai Mae Fa Luang; English Mae Fah Luang University ) is a university in Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand .
founding
Mae Fah Luang University is a public university and was established on September 25, 1998. Mae Fah Luang ("royal mother from heaven") was the nickname of Princess Srinagarindra , the mother of King Bhumibol Adulyadej who died in 1995 . Due to the mountainous location of the campus, the completion of the facility took until 2004.
The number of students has grown from 62 in 1998 to over 10,000 students in 2012. The university has a total of 11,727 students, including 10,593 undergraduate and 1,105 graduate students. The proportion of women is 70%. Of the 480 international students, most are from Myanmar (51%) and China (27%).

Mae Fah Luang University is located in Tambon Tha Sut, Chiang Rai Province , in the middle of the mountainous landscape of Northern Thailand. The campus has over 800 hectares.
Faculties
After there were initially only two faculties, one of which was intended for English studies , several have been added to this day, including business Chinese , agricultural industry and traditional Thai medicine .
