Cuvette is a department of the Republic of the Congo with the capital Owando .

geography

The department is located in the middle of the country and borders in the north with the department Sangha , in the northeast with the department Likouala , in the southeast with the Democratic Republic of the Congo , in the south with the department Plateaux , in the southwest with Gabon and in the northwest with the department Cuvette -Ouest .

history

In 1995 the western part of the region was separated as the new Cuvette-Ouest (Westcuvette) region. Since 2002, both have been called "Department".
