List of cat breeds |
The Thai cat and the Siamese cat have the same origin and come from what was then Siam - now Thailand . In the 1970s, the trend began to breed ever slimmer, more delicate and graceful Siamese cats. Some breeders stuck to the traditional type, which eventually led to the recognition of the same as a breed under the name "Thaikatze", which is also known as "Old-Style Siamese" in the English-speaking world. However, many Thai breeders crossed foreign breeds such as Burma , Rex or Colorpoint British, especially in the late 1990s , in order to obtain the desired phenotype. Therefore, the reference to the "old, real Siamese cat" claimed by many breeders is often not justifiable.
Essence
Thai cats are highly sensitive and yet very robust. In contrast to house cats , they are very affectionate and people-oriented. Thai cats often - like dogs, for example - form a close bond with a certain person, to whom they then remain “loyal” for their entire life. (Hence the saying “dog from inside, cat from outside”, which is often heard in connection with Thai and Siamese cats.) They have an idiosyncratic and dominant character. Thai cats are very curious, active, spirited and "talkative". They still love to play in adulthood.
maintenance
Due to their very short fur , Thai cats are very easy to care for. Hair that has fallen out can be removed by stroking it with wet hands or by combing it with a rubber brush for short-haired dogs.
Colors of Thai
There are basically four standard colors for Siamese and Thai cats, plus the colors white ( foreign white ), red and cream and their combinations.
The basic colors are seal-point, chocolate-point, lilac-point and blue-point. There are also: red-point, creme-point, seal-tortie-point beige, blue-tortie-point, chocolate-tortie-point, lilac-tortie-point and Foreign White (plain white).
The badges must be uniformly colored.
The colors mentioned above are also available as tabby , which means that the points are not full-colored, but have a line drawing. A badge means that the mask, ears, legs, feet and tail are of a different, darker color than the rest of the body. The mask includes the nose, whisker pad, eye rims and forehead and is connected to the ears by lines. The rest of the body surface is covered with the basic color. Thai cats are colored at around one year of age, but darken more and more with age, especially on the back. Since the hair becomes thicker due to the accumulation of pigments, areas of the body with fewer layers of fat get better heat insulation.
